Mouse damage

How to protect your home!

The corner chewed off a cardboard food container,  a hole nibbled  in a sack of dog food,  these are often the first signs of mouse damage in your home.

When you climb up into your attic to collect the Christmas decorations more signs of mouse damage may be apparent,   with insulation pulled into nests, and holes nibbled in your roofing felt.

Mice also carry food up into your roof  which attracts ‘stored product’ pests creating a whole other problem. You can attempt to deal with the problem yourself, using traps.

When mouse damage is a serious threat

When mice begin chewing the electric cables in your roof-space,  these little invaders unwittingly create a serious fire hazard.  They are also sometimes responsible for setting off burglar alarms and cutting off telephones.   Plastic water pipes are also vulnerable to their sharp teeth and the ensuing flood can result in a miserable and expensive clean up operation

Mouse damage increases in cold weather

Mice are extremely adaptable and will even learn to live in industrial freezers growing the extra fur required to cope with low temperatures,  but on the whole mice do prefer some warmth,  and will start to seek out human houses in larger numbers as winter approaches.
